CAN YOU RELATE?

You’ve practiced for hours in preparation for that upcoming audition or performance, only to crumble in the moment as the nerves and anxiety overwhelm you. You feel like you’re just surviving onstage, managing discomfort and distraction as you try to perform at your best. Maybe it hurts to play, and no matter what you do, the pain is there every time, and you don’t know where to turn for answers.

When you get offstage, it’s a relief. You did it! You made it through! You didn’t fall apart (or maybe you did)! Or perhaps you’re disappointed in your performance and head straight back to the practice room to prove you can do better. You berate yourself for all your little mistakes and vow to practice even harder for the next one. But the more you practice, the more discomfort you experience. There’s pain, but there’s no gain.

It doesn’t have to be like this.

It SHOULDN’T be like this.

As a music student, did you learn effective ways to manage your nerves and stay well? Do you currently have trusted, research-backed methods to prevent injury and find calm and ease when faced with a daunting performance or audition?

That’s why we created the Pain-Free Performer Course - so your hard work can shine through when it counts. Gone are the days of getting on stage without a strategy for your well-being or playing through pain. You’ve conquered the repertoire; now it’s time to step on stage confidently and share your art with the world (or audition committee).

Why We created PFP

We are musicians who were tired of the constant struggle, and felt like there was no way to avoid pain, anxiety, and the constant grind. By the end of our higher education degrees we had had ENOUGH!

We made it our mission to help musicians like you get the answers you are looking for, and the solutions you deserve.

We have spent years becoming experts in nutrition, mindset, performance psychology, fitness, and therapeutic movement so that we can help musicians like you get out of pain, prevent injury, perform with confidence, and unlock true potential.

HANNAH MURRAY

Dr. Hannah Murray is an active performer and educator based in Southern California and loves the diverse opportunities available as a performer here. As an orchestral player, she holds title chairs with regional orchestras and regularly records for video games, television, and cinema. As an educator Hannah has over fifteen years of experience giving private lessons, workshops, and coaching ensembles at all levels and ages from preschool to adulthood, and beginner to advanced player. She regularly travels to share her knowledge and speaking at conferences, institutions, and retreats.

Hannah is a certified 200-hour yoga teacher and began her practice when she was nineteen at a summer music festival. In 2017, she completed her Doctoral degree, writing her dissertation about the benefits of yoga for violinists. In 2020, she embarked on the Timani Teacher certification and is now one of the only Timani teachers in the United States making her uniquely equipped to help musicians in their quest for more ease and freedom in their playing. Hannah is adamant about the benefits of Timani for all musicians because it changed her life and playing. She regularly gives workshops, masterclasses, and lessons on the topic to help others unlock hidden potential in their playing and singing.

She has a masters degree in both vocal performance and kinesiology.

As a kinesiologist, Madeline has specialized training in orthopedics, corrective exercise, and performance psychology. In addition, she is certified in Holistic Yoga Therapeutics, MovNat, BIRTHFIT, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, Functional Range Conditioning, and Kinstretch.
