About Us

Who we are. What we do.

about us

Madeline Stewart

  Hannah Murray

I grew up in the kitchen where I learned the love language of food. I was raised by a father who is a classically trained French chef and was the owner of his own critically acclaimed restaurant, and by a mother who practices as a naturopathic physician and certified nurse-midwife. Due to their incredible influence I have always placed great importance on the quality of my food and had a passion for holistic health.

I began my dive into the world of music when I was four with the Violin. I studied the violin until I was 16, but during that time I developed a deep love and passion for singing. When studying both proved to be a little too much I switched my focus to studying voice exclusively. This passion for the voice lead me to an Undergraduate Degree in vocal performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a Masters in Vocal Performance from the University of Oklahoma. During my time at university I discovered the practice of Yoga and Balanced Nutrition as a way to deal with the stress of being a student and a performed. This curiosity has led me down a lifelong path of questioning and discovery, and ultimately to the pursuit of a career in the world of nutrition and therapeutic movement.

I believe in a holistic approach to nutrition and movement, that addresses each person’s bio-individuality. Every one of us is unique, and because of this I work with each client to discover what works best for them and fits in with their lifestyle and goals.

It is my mission to give my clients the information and guidance they need to make educated decisions about their own health and their futures. To guide them in gaining a deeper understanding of themselves with both an internal and external approach. When we have knowledge, tools and support our ability to effect change can be exponential as well as lasting.

Originally from Seattle, I have lived, toured, performed, and studied all over the world, and am currently based in Los Angeles, CA.

I am a violinist who enjoys a dynamic career of teaching, performing, collaborating, and writing. I am the Associate Principal Second Violinist of the Tulsa Symphony and Tulsa Ballet and former Associate Concertmaster of the Signature Symphony. Before moving to Los Angeles, I was a Master Teaching Artist for Harmony Project Tulsa, a mentoring through music after-school program for underserved communities.

In my private teaching studio, I take pride in cultivating strong personalities and confident, well-balanced musicians. I own and operate Active Violinist LLC, a small business intent on infusing music education and performance with healthy habits through lessons, coaching, and blogging.

I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) from the University of Oklahoma and wrote my dissertation, “Using Iyengar Yoga to Enhance Violin Playing” on some of the benefits violinists may derive from regularly practicing Iyengar Yoga. You can read it here

When I'm not playing, teaching, or talking about the violin you can find me riding horses, practicing yoga, running, writing, reading, or baking (and eating).
